Liver blood tests
Liver function tests are blood tests that are used to diagnose and track liver disease or damage. The tests detect the presence of specific enzymes and proteins in your blood.
Some of these tests assess how well the liver performs its normal functions, such as protein production and bilirubin clearance (a blood waste product). Other liver function tests measure enzymes released by liver cells in response to injury or disease. Atypical liver function test results do not always indicate the presence of liver disease. Your doctor will explain the significance of your results.
